3 Trendy plants to Enhance Your Indoor Decor in 2023

Are you in the midst of updating your living space with trendy plants? Then, the first step is to find out which ones are the most popular. I can help with that! In this article, I’ll reveal some ultra-trendy plants and share with you my favorite plant of all!

The Most Popular House Plants for Your Interior Home Decor

I think all of us know who to honor in this trend - Magnolia’s Joanna Gaines! She has a strong love for plants, gardening, and going back to the basics. Now, according to House Beautiful, Peace Lily, Aloe Vera, and Snake Plants are among the most popular houseplants for 2023. I’ll tell you a little bit about each of them in this section.

Peace Lily

The peace lily plant is a gorgeous flowering plant that adds a tropical vibe to any space. What you’re sure to notice about this plant is that it’s a feast for the eyes. It’s got deep green leaves with beautiful white blooms that stand out. And as a bonus, it purifies the air, so if you live in a congested urban area, you’ll really appreciate that.

Perhaps the best thing about peace lilies is that virtually anyone can grow them, and they do really well indoors in low light.

Aloe Vera

Are you more into succulents? The aloe vera plant is a succulent that has been popular for quite a few years. Their green spiky leaves draw the eye, instantly adding interest to any room. And if you like DIY skin and haircare remedies, you can use the gel from inside the leaves in your daily self-care routine!

Just make sure that your aloe vera plant gets several hours of direct sunlight per day!

Snake Plant

For those who want to add some exotic flair to their home decor, the snake plant is a great option to consider. It’s got a unique look, with tall, slender leaves. But that’s not where the uniqueness ends - the leaves have a cool pattern and texture that mimics snakeskin.

To make a big impact, place your snake plant near your front door. It’ll be the first thing people see when they visit your home.

Having a hard time narrowing down your choices? You can always choose several plant types and make a plant wall, like Joanna Gaines!

My Story of Plant Neglect

Here’s the thing - I would consider myself a neglectful plant parent. I seem to be on the last leg of my hydration schedule with my indoor plants. I have set alarms to water them once per week. I have also tried at least 10 spots for different areas of natural light in my house and it never seems to be just right.

I have not killed my plants, but have come really close to giving them CPR!

The ZZ Plant: My Favorite Plant of All

My favorite plant of all is the ZZ plant. It’s called the Zanzibar Gem. I love it for its beauty, texture, dark green color, and ease of growing. But, outside of its aesthetic and relaxed care requirements, this plant holds a deeper meaning for me.

It was given to us after we lost our wonderful daughter in 2017. Her favorite color was purple and it was given to us in a purple planter for that reason. It matches none of my decor and I love that. Even the smallest decorative item can speak of a loved one's presence. It is exquisite! And it’s easy for me, an abusive plant parent, to take care of.

I do not know who gave us this plant, but I do know it has been almost 6 years since we received it. This plant brings so many blessings to us throughout the week. I even pray that the Lord will bless the giver of this plant often because they probably have no idea of the impact their thoughtfulness and generosity has brought to our family all these years later.

My Plant Parent Resolution

This year, I would like to be a better plant parent and teach my children to do the same. I also would like to give more plants to loved ones, knowing how much a single plant has blessed us.

I hope that there are two plant trends in 2023: 1) using them for home decor, and 2) blessing others with a plant gift in a personalized color planter. 💚 🌱🪻💜

So, there you have it - I’ve shared the top 3 decorative house plants and shared the plant that’s dear to my heart. I hope that this article has given you the information you need to enhance your indoor decor with plants.
