Do you have a cleaning caddy with handles for your home, business, or vacation rentals? If not, you’re missing out! It’s a home and vacation rental tool you’ll wish you had years ago! If you want to know how this caddy can help you keep your space spick and span, this article is for you. In it, I’ll share the benefits of cleaning caddies with handles and wheels. In addition to that, I’ll reveal my top 17 best cleaning products for your home, business, and vacation rental cleaning stash.
How a Cleaning Caddy with Handles Makes Cleaning Easy
Your cleaning caddy with wheels keeps your supplies organized and efficient. It helps you quickly and easily cart items around so you’ll have them at arm’s reach at a moment’s notice. Cleaning caddies with wheels reduces frustration by saving you from the stress of going from room to room and forgetting the products you need. Few things are more frustrating and tiring than turning back and making extra trips. Parents know when there is an emergency mess, every moment matters. Make your life easier and have all your home cleaning items in one place.
Vacuum (Your Best Cleaning Asset)
A vacuum cannot fit into a small cleaning organizer or this cleaning caddy with wheels, but it is a must in your cleaning assets. A good vacuum will be your biggest benefit. It covers dirt, dust, hair, and allergens like dust mites. Reducing dust and allergens improves air quality.
According to the National Library of Medicine, dry steam cleaning and vacuuming significantly reduced the concentration of dust mite allergen in the carpet house—vacuum at least once a week per household family member.
We have a family of six, and we vacuum six times or more per week on average. Okay, so I don't physically do the heavy lifting all week, to be honest. Frederick, our Robot vacuum, is an excellent modern butler. He runs once a day on schedule and never talks back.
You probably would like to reduce cleaning time. One idea is to invest in a Robot vacuum that vacuums and mops simultaneously. You can program it to start from your phone or set it up on an automatic timer, and it will clean the areas needed at the specific scheduled time you have programmed. Doing so leaves you more time to enjoy your loved ones or relax. I would love to know the name of your home's Robot vacuum. Please comment below.
Within just one week, Frederick paid for himself. Cleaning companies in my area charge upwards of $45 per hour. Each time they would come to clean, it was a minimum of $200—twice a week to keep clean floors, and it was not done daily. Fredrick's responsibilities are daily, and my floors look sharp each day. Plus, nobody can make perfect carpet lines like Fredrick does!
The other vacuum is a Ryobi handheld shop vac. I like it because it can vacuum up smaller wet areas. I use it for areas with hair, like the showers and sinks at my vacation rentals. I hate when hair sticks to what I’m cleaning with. Yuck! You can vacuum out the shower and sinks first, then scrub and wipe down without the hair concerns. It is an awesome tool to keep in your car, especially if you have kids. It is a must when we travel long distances.
2. Cleaning Caddy With Handles
Next, you have your cleaning caddy without wheels. This one has handles for easy toting of small items you use often. Your cleaning caddy does not need to be expensive. Your local dollar store should have cleaning caddies. You can start with the lower-end version and, over time, invest in something that suits your style. We use our cleaning caddy daily. Please keep it in a central location of your home and regularly restock it when certain items are getting low.
3. Bleachable Microfibre Cleaning Cloths
Using microfiber cloths in your home is a great way to make cleaning easier and more effective. You can color coordinate your clothes in a related cleaning area; for example, a blue microfibre cloth can be used for windows and mirrors. In contrast, a yellow or orange can be used for "caution zones," like toilet surfaces. According to Core America, "These fibers can efficiently remove dirt, dust, soil, and microorganisms, and they even capture up to 99 percent of bacteria from surfaces. Essentially, they physically remove germs instead of immediately killing them."
4. Spray Bottles
Spray bottles are a real boon for any house—sometimes, you just don’t want to use conventional cleaners. Certain surfaces might call for specialized cleansers that you can DIY at home. We clean with organic ingredients in our home because one of our children has sensitivities. You can choose to go with organic solutions and recipes or use your store's regular cleaning products.
Organic Users: Multi-Purpose Cleaner
White vinegar, water, essential oils, 14 drops of Melaleuca, and 14 drops of your favorite citrus oil work as an excellent multi-purpose cleaner. This recipe can be used anywhere on any surface.
For stubborn stains and tough grime, add baking soda or an organic laundry soap recipe.
Vacation Rental Cleaners:
5. Multipurpose Spray
Every household could use a good multi-purpose spray you can deploy at a moment’s notice to tidy up. They come in handy for everyday messes and larger cleaning projects where you need things to be spotless. It could take some time to figure out which multi-purpose cleaner you like, but this is my holy grail! You’d be surprised at how quickly it can make stains disappear!
6. Glass Cleaner
Using non-glass cleaners on your glass is not a good idea. Over time, glass develops a thin layer of grime that you just can’t remove without the right product. That’s why they make dedicated cleaners specifically for the purpose of cleaning glass. There are loads of glass cleaners on the market, but Sprayway glass cleaner stands out. If you want your glass to gleam like new, this is a cleanser to try!
7. Cooktop Cleaner
Many roll their eyes at the thought of cleaning their cooktops. It’s amazing how dirty they can get, not to mention how much scrubbing they require when they get caked in a mess. But Bar Keeper’s Friend is no joke; it can power through the toughest grime and leave your cooktop looking brand spanking new. I use it at home and for my rental properties, and I’ve always been happy with how well it works.
8. Multi-Use Brush
When faced with a tough mess, it’s essential to get your hands on the right scrubbing tool. Multi-use brushes are a good place to start. They can be used to scrub bathtubs, bathroom tile, cement floors, swimming pools, and much, much more. The possibilities are endless.
Scrubbrushes are great for bigger messes. The handle makes it easier to avoid getting your hands in the mess, and the long bristles reach hard-to-reach crevices. Use the long-bristled scrub brush for entry doors, window crevices, and showers.
Having a small, deep-clean brush set for hard-to-reach crevices is also a necessity. Keep one brush specifically for toilet areas–do not cross-contaminate. Store this specific brush in a labeled Ziploc and replace the bag after it has been bleached. Bleach the brush in a disposable plastic container after each use and replace it every so often.
9. Disposable Clorox Toilet Brush & Wand
Here’s my absolute favorite toilet cleaner! It’s great because it has a wand (to save your back and knees) and comes with the cleanser already infused into the cleaning pad on the end. So, all you have to do is pull your wand out and start scrubbing. And you won’t have to do much scrubbing—the Clorox cleanser is super potent and lifts away everything without much effort.
After all the toilets in your home are clean, you can dispose of the toilet wand cleaning head with one click of a button. Use a Clorox wipe to clean the wand and put it away. Keeping a package of toilet wand brushes in your caddy is good planning.
10. Degreaser/Oven Cleaner
When your oven is due for a cleaning, the whole house knows it! That burnt smell is enough to ruin your appetite and clean the kitchen. But with a good cleaning, all will be well. Some think they need heavy-duty chemicals to clean their oven, but that’s not the case. Method Heavy Duty Degreaser can clean out your oven with citronnelle and lemongrass grease-cutting power. I’m a long-time user and believer!
11. Air Freshener
How your home looks is super important when making an impression, but so is how it smells. To ensure that your home smells pleasant every day, keep some air freshener on hand. Whether you’ve just changed a diaper, cooked some fish, or fallen behind on your regular cleaning schedule, an air freshener can make a big difference. Febreze is the golden standard in freshening up literally anything, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone!
12. Sponges
Sponges are inexpensive and disposable. They are great for tough grime and are usable on surfaces, countertops, shower buildup, and hard-to-remove gunk on floors. If you have a farmhouse kitchen sink, you will know that over time, you start to get yellow stains in the sink. The Mr. Clean magic eraser is the only product we have found that does the best job cleaning our farmhouse kitchen sinks. They can also be used for scuff marks around the house, crayon stains, and marker stains.
13. Trash Bags: Small & Large
Small trash bags are great for replacing small trash cans throughout the home. You can use one of the small trash bags to place your toilet bowl cleaner brush and wand in if you have multiple toilets to clean. This keeps the toilet water from dripping anywhere other than in the trash bag. You can also use a small trash bag for any microfiber cloths that must be bleached and cleaned at the end of your cleaning schedule. Large bags can replace large trash bins, dirty clothes, or donation items.
14. Sanitizing Cleaning Wipes: Quick Clean
Sanitizing wipes kills bad bacteria and fungi and helps keep surfaces clean. Having sanitizing wipes on hand makes it quick and easy for small messes. Using sanitizing wipes on kitchen countertops after family meals reduces bacteria. Wiping down bathrooms at the end of the day with a quick sanitizing wipe keeps the bathroom fresh and fresh and reduces the time needed for your scheduled deep clean. Keep wipes in each area of the home under the sink. This way, they’re available for family members and guests if they need to clean up a mess.
15. Squeegee
A squeegee is great in your shower or bathroom but also excellent for cleaning your caddy. Squeegees remove excess moisture and prevent build-up on your shower glass and tile. They also remove streaks and help make cleaning more efficient and fast.
16. Scraper
Window scrapers are great for hard-to-remove grime, tape, gum, food, and more. If used correctly, they do not scratch glass or countertops, and they can also be used on hardwood surfaces.
17. Mop
The best mop I have found is the Swiffer Wet Jet Refill mop. To be honest, I am a little embarrassed to say it. Over the years, I have bought a handful of mops. We even have a steam mop. I am a fan of how quick and convenient it is. You stick on a pad and throw it away when it gets dirty and unsanitary. Removing the pad while not having the mess or the stress of a bucket is a quick and convenient option.
There you have it - the importance of a cleaning caddy with handles and 17 recommendations. Don't let this list overwhelm you. The specifics of what you like and what you have on hand for cleaning are up to you. If you do anything, take the time to invest in a cleaning caddy to start. This was where my cleaning became easier, not so much a chore. You can personalize your caddy to your style and personality, making it exciting to take it out and use! Cleaning can be overwhelming, but it can be fun if you are organized, efficient, and creative. I hope the information and recommendations in this article have been helpful, and I wish you the best with your spring cleaning!
